About Treadmills Walking is still considered one of the most beneficial cardiovascular exercises for people of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. As a fundamental form of aerobic training, walking has numerous physical benefits for the heart, lungs, and circulatory system, while also increasing muscle tone and burning fat calories. Treadmills provide a convenient way to regularly exercise in all weather conditions in the comfort and safety of your own home. From beginners just starting an exercise regimen to advanced athletes looking to maintain their fitness level, anyone interested in getting and staying in shape can benefit greatly from regular use of a treadmill. Treadmills allow you to determine the pace, distance, and complexity of the workout based on your needs, all while watching television, talking on the telephone, or reading a magazine. Much easier on sensitive joints like the knees and hips, treadmill walking and running surfaces are typically long, padded platforms that allow ample room for a long stride and comfortable, low-impact walk or jog without the harsh contact of a concrete surface. Many treadmills offer unique features like a fold-up design for easy storage, an electronic display monitor showing speed, distance, workout time, incline level, and burned calories, and EKG grip pulses to monitor the heart rate while exercising. Regardless of the features you may choose, treadmills offer an array of aerobic exercise opportunities that will provide long-lasting cardiovascular benefits without requiring a commute to the gym or a jog in the rain. Has what you need for home use August 6, 2010 Larry (East Coast USA) First, let me warn you that if you inadvertently knock off the magnetic tag (e.g. via the wires to your ear plugs) that is used as a safety switch, this thing will not run. It is an obvious reason for a breakdown, but had me stumped for a while.
This seemed small compared to what I use in our clubhouse gym. I cannot hold the hand rails while I walk because they are too low. Also, it makes some strange creaking noises. The motor is relatively quiet, but the belt bed makes all kinds of noises. That does not seem to be a problem, but it leaves you wondering what is going on. The console is big enough to put my mini laptop on so I can watch Netflix movies while i walk.
Treadmills saved my life. I lost 70 lb in one year through diet and use of them, so I wanted one at home that I could use daily and hard. I have been using this one daily for a month and it does what I need - up to 10% incline and all the speed I need. The controls are easy but not sophisticated. My calorie usage is not calculated based on my weight so it is not accurate, but I know what that is anyway so no problem.
This is good value for money if you want a basic treadmill.
Back to the magnetic tag. When I called the service department I got no response. Just a recorded voice saying to hold or offering me a callback. I suspect that the warranty is not worth much. I suggest that once you buy this you are on your own. I will update this review if they ever call me back.
Update - They called me back in a couple of days. I have no idea what the phone service would have been like though. The machine still works fine.
Great price March 22, 2010 Horror movie holic (St. Louis, MO) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this locally several months ago. Fortunately the store was able to do an in-home assembly as it was kind of complicated and very heavy to move in order to determine a good spot for it in the house. My best advice would be to measure accurately and decide beforehand where you want it and assemble it in place. It is too wide to fit through the standard doorway, so moving to another room once assembled is out of the question.
It works quite well and I have had no problems whatsoever. Compared to several other treadmills, it has many amenities for the price. Heart rate monitor, adjustable incline, speed settings that increase 0.1 mile increments and up to 10mph, large console for telephone, tv remote, large sports bottle, magazine, etc. You definitely won't be needing for space with this model. The hydraulic lift for the platform is also a great bonus. Its easy to lower and raise for a little extra space saving, but you don't have to worry about it hitting the floor too hard or being too heavy to lift.
Since I've only had this for 7 months or so and haven't used it as much as I wish I had, I can't speak too much of its staying power, but it is user friendly, durable, and was a great value for the money and I compared several models before buying and this was by far the best price.
The only dislike I have is that when you pause your program mid way, if you don't start it back up within 5 minutes, it shuts off automatically and all your data is lost. The same is true if the key is pulled - I know thats the idea for safety, but I wish it could save your data so it isn't lost when you go to restart right away.
Horizon T 90 February 28, 2010 Woodykk (FL ,USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought this unit in Jan 2010,after walking everyday for one and a half month at the mid-range speed,I give 4 stars rating. It is quiet and steady ,much better than my previous unit and also easy to lift the platform.
The only complaint is the installation, screws and holes in the both holding bars do not fit in since the design is unbelievable bad.The manual for using is short and does not give enough details but I don't care since I can set my own walking pattern.Lastly,it worth the money with good value. The delivery by Amazon was excellent in both timing and condition.
Pretty good home treadmill December 28, 2009 Scott L. Singer (Pewaukee, WI USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a very good treadmill for home, for a good price. The electronic panel is simple and easy to use. It folds up with wheels on the bottom for moving/storing. Two of the screws on the bottom didn't line up very well, but was pretty easy to put together.
Great Treadmill December 15, 2009 Wendy Railing (South Bend, IN) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a nice treadmill that runs smoothly and is fairly quiet. It was also pretty easy to put together (one hour). I have been using it 5 days a week for a month now and so far, so good.
